Embracing the Confusion: Navigating Your Twenties

Article Alisa Hakim

Being in your twenties is such as weird feeling.

One moment, you are contemplating about starting your own business. Next, you’re envisioning a life as a social media influencer or content creator. Perhaps you dream of traveling the world to experience new cultures and meet new people. Alternatively, you may prefer investing in the stock market to help fund your lavish lifestyle. Yet, amid these aspirations, you find yourself comparing your progress to your high school peers – some are jet-setting across the globe, while others are settling down by buying houses and starting families or pursuing rewarding careers in different cities or states. Suddenly, questions arise about your own trajectory and whether you are doing this adulting right.

Welcome to your twenties– period of internal turmoil and spontaneous ambitions. We expect to have our lives figured out, yet we are bombarded with uncertainties and fleeting desires we struggle to define, let alone pursue.

If you are feeling this way, know that you are not alone. Many, including myself, have grappled with similar feelings of confusion, uncertainty, and occasional self-doubt.

So, what is the solution for this quarter-life crisis? Surprisingly, there is no definitive answer you’ll find on Google. However, if you ask me, why not explore everything that you’ve ever wanted to do?

While it may seem daunting, consider the idea of reaching old age with a regretful heart, lamenting the opportunities you never seized. That is far more disheartening. Instead, seize the moment while youth is on your side. Embrace the freedom to explore your passion, pursue your dreams, and take risks – no matter how unconventional they may seem.

Sure, it’s easier said than done. But wouldn’t you rather reflect on a life rich with experiences, rather than one laden with regrets, when your days draw to a close?

For me, the choice is clear: I’ll choose to embrace the uncertainty of my twenties, daring to chase every ambition and aspiration. Because in the end, I’d rather look back on a life lived to the fullest rather than a life full of what-ifs and missed opportunities.

So, I leave you with this question: Will you allow your twenties to be defined by uncertainty and hesitation, or will you seize the opportunity to make it the most exhilarating chapter of your life?

The choice is yours to make.
