Behind The Scenes with Sac PD Media Lead Officer, Anthony Gamble

KSSU host Jouell Wright from show, “Behind The Scenes”, recently sat down with Sacramento Police Department officer Anthony Gamble for a conversation that explored his background, leadership, how he got into the field, his community outreach, and the realities of modern policing.  

During the interview, Anthony Gamble shared his personal journey into law enforcement and discussed what inspired him to serve the Sacramento community. He also highlighted the importance of positive relationships between officers and young people, emphasizing mentorship and communication as key tools for building trust. He brought up how two specific officers that patrolled his community at an early age, gave him his first “Behind The Scenes” of what police life was like. He was infatuated with the fun walkie-talkies, after he showed his interest, the officer came back at a later date and brought him his own set.  This was the beginning of his passion for serving and protecting.  

Gamble further discussed the challenges officers face while balancing public safety with community, especially during the social climate for police. He emphasized the importance of accountability, transparency, and consistent engagement with residents outside of emergency situations. As an officer he stressed the importance of giving back, specifically by participating in youth programs, school visits, and neighborhood events. Officer Gamble explained how officers can create stronger connections and foster mutual respect within the community. 

The discussion was guided with thoughtful questions that allowed listeners to learn more about the human side of policing. Gamble also spoke about mental health awareness, encouraging youth to seek support and remain focused on personal growth despite challenges. The interview provided valuable insight into the Sacramento Police Department’s community-centered efforts while giving listeners an authentic perspective on public service.
