Dreamy Frequencies Only
You’ve heard the phrase “you are what you eat” at least once in your lifetime, if not many. How often are we reminded that we are, too, the music we consume? The lyrics we register in our head, recite back aloud, repeat like a mantra when they get stuck in our head?
If it isn’t common knowledge by now, words are spells- we create every faction of reality simply by how we choose to speak about it. Especially when you’re aware of it and in observance of its power. Before I dive any deeper, let me reiterate that you do not and will not internalize every line of written word you ever read. But a lot can be noticed about a person and the kind of music that dominates their spaces, even unintentionally. And do not be mistaken, of course there is a time and a place for raunchy, not-so-uplifting music, but like everything in life, mindfulness and moderation are key and aid discernment when choosing the degree to which you align soulfully with what you’re hearing.
I don’t know about you, but in this life where it seems like we possess little control on what we encounter, I will choose the background music to this chaos, and that music and its words will not elicit any unfavorable emotions in me that I don’t benefit from or are evoked with a greater purpose of knowledge and art.
The awareness it would require to monitor every word that meets your cochleas is simply unattainable. Whatever amount of attention you can spare this matter, I invite you to try. Additionally, I invite you to dedicate a day or week to listening to songs and sounds that feel uplifting and speak positively about life, humans, and the world. If you need more of these songs to fill up your playlists, tune into Dreamer’s Dial on KSSU.
Thanks for reading! Be well! ✦
