Let’s Talk: Favorite Cosmetics in Fortnite!
Hey hey, DJ Harrito here again and this time I’d like to take some time to discuss my favorite cosmetics from the game Fortnite because it’s been a little over a year since I started playing. I’ll be discussing some of my favorite cosmetics from the time I’ve started, Chapter 4 OG 2023, until recently in our recent chapter as of writing this, Chapter 6 Season 2. Without further ado, let’s talk!
Early Game (November 2023 – January 2024)
At the time I had no idea about cosmetics but I have kept an eye on the item shop. It wasn’t until my friend explained how it works that I finally decided to cave in and buy a skin in Fortnite. My friend was also surprised by how fast I jumped on the bandwagon and bought 2 skins off the bat.
The first two ones I’ve ever bought were Kyra and Wendell. I got Kyra because she seemed cool and reminded me of the Kardashian’s a bit. As for Wendell, I got him because he reminded me of my friend who is a furry and I decided to get it for fun. I don’t regret the purchases but it’s funny thinking back on why I bought them to what I currently use nowadays. I continued to use Wendell and Kyra up until the early days of Chapter 5 Season 1.
Chapter 5 Season 1 The Bugha Era (January 2024 – April 2024)
I still bought cosmetics here and there but I never used one as much as Bugha. I did it because he seemed like a simple outfit to use. Not going to lie, I had no idea who he was or what an icon skin was but his color scheme is what drove me to buy it. I used him in exchange with Montague because I viewed those as something way cooler than the previous two I mainly used. I did start using Kid Laroi more during this time too, but he mainly remained in my locker waiting for the day I use him again. Regardless, I used Bugha as my main outfit for the time being until one day, Coachella arrived…
HOLY CRAP IT’S ONE OF MY MAINS (April 2024 – June 2024)
Coachella came and went, but one of my mains stayed forever in my locker. This is also around the time when the Coachella pickaxe came by as well, I used it more than any other pickaxe during that time. Introducing Wilder, a pretty plain and honestly not much to see outfit. Something drew me to him so much though, and honestly it might be due to him being an outfit I wore a lot during my Guatemala trip. I love my family overseas, so in honor of that I thought why not wear it in the game y’know. He continues to be my main till this day, but his prime was definitely around that time frame.
My Hero Academia Phase (June 2024 – July 2024)
I still have yet to finish the anime, but Todoroki was one of my favorites during this time as well. I haven’t used him since, but he definitely deserves an honorable mention here as one of my go-to anime skins in this game.
Ariana Grande, Why Did It Take You So Long? (July 2024 – August 2024)
I kid you not, one of the most anticipated outfits that I wanted to see come back was Ariana Grande, and she finally did around July. I used the crap out of her because I was STARVING for her rerelease. We did get a pink variant and the return of the space one, but I didn’t really care for them as much as the original one. I would consider this as my “sweat skin” because I only use it when I’m dying for a win. It’s definitely not a main and more of a special occasion kind of outfit, but I did use it for about a month up until we got the next Fortnite Festival season.
La Bichota and the Spanish YouTuber (August 2024 – December 2024)
I’m not a huge Karol G fan but she definitely was one of my go-to skins for the Marvel season. She was released after Metallica and remains to be one of my favorite Festival seasons aside from Miku in early 2025. This was also around the time Rubius released, and I used him often alongside Karol G. I didn’t even know who this was, but his outfit was honestly a vibe and caused me to use him often. The three constantly alternated with each other, including Wilder, and I didn’t play much during the Marvel season after all the nerfs and boring loot pool up until Remix in November. There, I would use the three more and had fun doing so until the next Chapter arrived.
Kendo and Daigo (December 2024 – March 2025)
As I stated in my previous blog, I love using these two often. Kendo has such a cool color scheme and Daigo is definitely the parental brother of the two, Jade and Kendo, to whom I relate. Alongside Wilder, I would alternate between these often to have a new spin in the battle. As much of a pain Chapter 6 Season 1 was, I fear NewJeans would have topped everyone on this list if they had released. Rant aside, Wilder, Daigo, and Kendo rotated in my locker for a while before my new mains appeared in March.
SHOHEIIII OHTANIII (March 2025 – Present)
The release of Ohtani was unexpected, and I didn’t think much of it because I’m not a huge baseball fan. But he didn’t fail to impress me on his release day. His outfit is one of the best icon skins in my opinion, and the cool contrast between a Samurai Ohtani and a Dodgers Ohtani really helps me shake up my outfit rotation with my friends. Both Ohtani’s and the Coachella Wilder one remains to be one of my favorite outfits ever released. Not even Sabrina Carpenter made me rethink this timeline. Her outfit was cool, and it does resemble her and her tour outfits pretty well. But I’m not as much of a fan of the color scheme, to be completely honest. The soft pink style and the light blue version are pretty accurate to what I’ve seen on TikTok, but I don’t really care for anything else. As much as I enjoy her music, I still prefer Ohtani. He also matches the Kneebreaker pretty well in the game, so I enjoy the contrast between baseball player and outlaw while playing.
And that’s pretty much it! Wow, time really flies. I remember being a complete noob and I honestly think I still am but my friends really helped me improve my aim and even competitiveness when it boils down to the final zone.
Shout out to Ragingnikk for playing with my friends and I last night, although we love trolling, I thought it was fun to switch it up a bit and make a new friend!
That’s pretty much all I have to say, and I hope we can continue the years of Fortnite going on my Twitch @DJHarrito. I’ve been streaming semi-often at least once a week for funzies with my friends, Eden and Quinn, and I hope you can join us sometime!
Take care everyone, and I might discuss Final Destination Bloodlines next time before my final summer break at university!
