Why Dhurandhar Might Be the Best Bollywood Film We’ve Gotten in Years

Article Jasmine Dhindsa (DJ JD)

Hey everyone, DJ JD here, and today I wanted to talk about one Bollywood movie that has completely taken over my Instagram and TikTok feed lately, which is Dhurandhar. I’m not even gonna lie, every single time I scroll, I keep seeing edits, music from the soundtrack, movie clips, and everyone hyping this movie up. And honestly? It did, at least for me, the expectations on an action film have become pretty high.

As a Ranveer Singh fan, I already knew I was going to tune in no matter what, even though I am usually not a huge action movie person. But since this movie was hyped up a lot and Ranveer was in it, I had to see what it was about. Everything about this movie is just way better than any action movie I have watched in the past. Especially compared to the YRF Spy Universe movies.

But honestly, one of the biggest reasons I’m so excited is because of Ranveer Singh himself. If you know me personally, then you already know I am a DIE HARD Ranveer fan way before all of this Dhurandhar hype even started. I literally have an entire fan page dedicated to him, so seeing everyone suddenly appreciate him again and not hate makes me feel really happy. I feel like people forget how insanely versatile he is as an actor until Dhurandhar came out to prove to everyone that he’s one of Bollywood’s biggest stars.

Ranveer has always been the type of actor who gives 110% to every role he plays. Whether it’s emotional, chaotic, funny, dramatic, or completely chaotic, he fully commits every single time. That’s honestly why I think he fits Dhurandhar perfectly. The fact that he grew his hair, beard, and worked out intensely for this role shows how far he can go as an actor with the dedication he has. One of the reasons why I love him so much. People also should not forget how incredible he was in Padmaavat as Khilji because that same terrifying and powerful energy is exactly why he delivered so well in his role as Hamza.

Also, can we talk about the visuals for a second? Aditya Dhar seriously put his whole soul into this project because everything we’ve seen so far looks INSANE. From the movie clips to the soundtrack and cinematography, the film genuinely looks international-level. It honestly gives the type of cinematic quality people usually only expect from Hollywood films. Bollywood has always had amazing storytelling potential, but Dhurandhar feels like one of those movies that could remind the world how huge and powerful Bollywood cinema can actually be.

Another thing I love is how social media has completely turned this movie into an event already. Half the fun is honestly watching everyone react together online. Whether people are debating scenes, posting edits, analyzing every frame with Aditya Dhar’s “peak detailing”, or freaking out over Ranveer’s look, it makes the whole experience even more exciting. I honestly cannot remember the last time a Bollywood movie created this much hype online before even fully releasing.

I also think audiences today want more than just random fight scenes and loud action. People want storytelling, visuals, music, emotion, and performances that actually leave an impact. And from everything we’ve seen so far, Dhurandhar genuinely is a balance of all of that perfectly. That’s why I truly think this movie has the potential to become one of the best Bollywood films of the recent decade and possibly one of Ranveer Singh’s most memorable performances ever.

Anyways, that’s pretty much all I wanted to say for now. I’ll definitely be tuned in to rewatching it on Netflix because I already know social media is losing its mind over this movie. Take care, everyone, and maybe next time I’ll talk about more upcoming Bollywood releases because that’s honestly all I do in my free time.
